STOCKHOLM! project
The idea of the entire PRAHO! project first took shape in ’19 in Stockholm, where its founder Annamarie was studying a Master’s degree in Documentary Directing at the Stockholm University of the Arts. The original concept was meant to serve as a film project, which in the end was never produced, but the idea of participatory art and working with public space remained. The project received financial support from the Swedish Film Institute, and the whole adventure could begin.
Stockholm was therefore part of the project’s beginnings from the very start. And now we are symbolically returning – Annamarie has permanently moved to Sweden, and together with the team we are exploring how our experience from Prague can grow within the local context here.
Since PRAHO! project has long been working internationally, we do not see this decision as a leap into the unknown. In June 2025, we succeeded in securing a joint Erasmus+ grant, and we have now decided to establish the sister non-profit organisation STOCKHOLM! project.
It is a return to the place where it all started – but this time with a much larger team, more experience, and a clearer vision.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is STOCKHOLM! project just a branch of PRAHO! project?
No. We are two independent non-profit organisations. What connects us are our shared origins, values, and joint projects.
Why Stockholm?
Because this is where the very first idea of PRAHO! project was born, when Annamarie lived here years ago. Now that she has returned, it felt natural to grow our work here too.
What projects do you run together?
We started with a big step – a joint Erasmus+ EU grant, linking Prague and Stockholm through participatory art. More international collaborations are on the way.
How are the two organisations different?
Each has its own team, finances, and decision-making. We share know-how and values, but we remain independent. It’s a sisterhood, not a hierarchy. You can read more in our Memorandum of Understanding.
Can I join both?
Yes! Whether you’re in Prague, Stockholm, or anywhere else. Many things can also be done online – from collaborating on projects to volunteering or mentoring. If you’re interested, reach us at ahoj@prahoproject.cz or hej@sthlmproject.com.
