About the project
„Through art and honest words
we restore humanity in the city.“
PRAHO! collective
Are you gonna join us?
PRAHO! collective is an open community of people who believe that art and honest words can transform both the city and the relationships between us. It is a living space for meeting, sharing, and creating together. You can contribute your time, energy, donation, or ideas and become part of the movement that turns streets into places of pause and dialogue. Every word, gesture, or thought you bring into this space helps restore the city’s humanity. Be there with us.
Beginnings of the project
2021 – 2024
PRAHO! project was founded in October 2021. Back then, we began placing several dozens of poems in public spaces of the city in the form of stickers, posters, billboards or art installations. Each text carries a unique idea and a QR code that links to a website with several personal or urban questions, such as “Why do you wake up in the morning?“ or “When was the last time you did something for the first time and what was it?“. You can also upload documents to the site.
Since the launch of the project, we have received over 30 thousand confessions highlighting how unique people really are. Many are contradictory, others are repetitive – for example, mentions of feeling lonely or being misunderstood are very common. Perhaps because of the fact that the project is anonymous, people share their fears and secrets, send us their poetry, drawings and even short films. It is an incredible collection of opinions, feelings and thought processes.
Main aspects
Fundamentals ideas
There are three main ideas behind the creation of this project – the first is our desire to help random people step away from the dullness of everyday life; the second is to fight against the exclusivity of exhibiting art in galleries by placing it in public spaces; and the third (the most important one at the moment) is the desire to connect society together and point to the fact, that we could be much closer to each other in this estranged world, than it seems.
Artistic Outputs
Combination of Different Formats
Thanks to the courage of people to share what is often unshareable, this project continues to grow. Currently, it is run by an 18-member team. We are constantly working on the project; in December ’22 we completed the release of the four-part PRAHO! publication. In April ’23, thanks to the financial support of our partners TSK, GHMP, AVU, we opened our very first public space intervention: the interactive underpass beneath the Vychovatelna tram stop, titled Změny.
On August 13 ’23, we officially opened our second permanent work, Queer All Year, at Fügnerovo náměstí in Prague 2.
Another significant work, titled We Should Have a Talk, appeared in Prague 5 on April 13 ’24, opening a space for sharing topics that often remain hidden.
Our most extensive project to date is the complete transformation of Kačerov metro station under the title Máš čas?. This intervention turned a transit space into a place of pause, reflection, and encounter.
In December ’24, we introduced the interactive game A co teď?, which connects people through art, sharing, and small everyday challenges. Fifty-two thematic cards and twelve artefacts offer space for dialogue, creativity, and discovering the city from a new perspective. The game builds on our work in public space and brings it directly into your hands, whether you play it alone, with friends, or with the city.
In May ’25, in collaboration with the Prague Congress Centre, we opened the installation crossroads. Located on the northern terraces of the PCC, it explores themes of journeys, decision-making, and connection, drawing from the testimonies of residents of Prague 4 and visitors to the centre.
We have completed many more works, both temporary and permanent. Look at them here.
The future of the project
Interactive game
We have long been committed to exploring different artistic forms. That is why we have created the interactive game And what now?. Several organisations and institutions from across the country have joined us in its creation. The game was released in December ’24. Will you join us?
In the coming year, alongside revitalising more locations across Prague, we plan to step beyond the city’s limits – and quite possibly beyond the borders of the Czech Republic. Beyond working with the public space, we also offer interactive workshops and greater community involvement. We continue to spread our values – creativity, humanity, inclusion, and freedom – and strive to make them present wherever people meet, share, and collectively transform their surroundings.
